Long drive to N.Y.
My dad and I spent the last two days making the 22-hour drive from New Orleans to Cooperstown, N.Y., in an old Dodge van. He wanted to haul some stuff from New Orleans (where he used to live) to Cooperstown (where he lives now). Not wanting him to make the drive alone, I agreed to come along (good son that I am).
We missed all the great Smoky Mountain scenery in Northern Tennessee, because it was already dark by the time we passed through. We spent the night in Abingdon, Va., just past our halfway point.
I am happy to report that the jalopy survived the trip, thankfully, and we and our cargo arrived intact.
